Sunday July 17 – 07:00 Breakfast coffee,
juices, fresh fruit, yogurt, cereal and hard
boiled eggs. Over breakfast we reviewed the
basic safety gear aboard the boat, location
of fire extinguishers, first aid kit, flares, life
jackets and harnesses. All hands got
practice, dropping the dock lines then coiling
and stowing the dock lines and fenders.
Knot review: the cleat hitch, the clove hitch
and the figure eight. The six boats all headed
out together just after 09:00 as we motored
in a flat calm sea across the “Inshore Traffic
Zone” shipping lanes, then the wind began to
come from the north northwest at 5 to 10
knots. We set sail on starboard tack, with the
crew hoisting the main and unfurling the jib,
we were sailing in no time.

Epidavros
| The village came alive just before the sunset with booths set up right off our stern selling local jams, jelly, and lots home made wears. Cyndee picked up some earrings. Dan helped the ladies set up their booth and received a bottle of Cherry liquid as a thank you. |
| Monday July 18 – 08:00 there was a beautiful cool breeze in the mountain air as we walked up the steps of the amphitheater and you could clearly hear the little girl from “Aeolia Rea”, aptly named Athena, singing “Twinkle Twinkle Little Star” from the center of the stage. |

Kithnos
| Friday July 21 – 07:00 after coffee and breakfast, we depart for Alimos and home. The wind was northwest at 15 to 20 knots. After motoring past the town we set sail on port tack. As we cleared the lee of Methanon we experienced the wind funneling thru the mountains up over 25 knots, gusts higher, and we shorten sail. The crew gets to practice reefing, which we did twice. First one reef then another, giving Dan, Carol, Amy and Pete all a chance at the helm practicing feathering technique |
