Shopping for and buying your dream boat
Waypoint 9 on the 5 Step Plan: Determining which boat is right for you.
You have good start on what you are looking for in a cruising boat. Now your goal is to
learn much more about boat construction and design and to try as many different
types of boats as possible. Two Can Sail will be offering, starting in 2011, a “Boat

before you buy sailing program, partnering with several boat manufactures, dealers
and charter companies in the Tampa Bay area. This is a one week course where we
tour boat building factories, look at boats in a yard through a surveyors “eye” with an
SAMS Surveyor (Jean K Levine AMS), and spend the week day sailing on three to four
different boats to compare designs, performance, features and comfort. Learn to read
and interpret a yacht survey report. Meet with a yacht finance expert who can help
you navigate the dollars and cents of the purchase process.
